Cannes 2018 round-up: the buzziest and the best films

By CW Contributor on 17/5/2018

The Cannes Film Festival 2018 wrapped up over the weekend but we’re still resting our feet. No, not because we spent the whole time running from soirée to soirée (though we did join Donald Glover in throwing some shapes at the Star Wars afterparty). And not because we obeyed the ‘high heels on the red carpet’ rule (though we didn’t join in Kristen Stewart in going it barefoot). But because we spent the best part of two weeks dashing across town to queue up for the most brilliant and bizarre fare international cinema has to offer. We were also there when the President of the Jury, Cate Blanchett, took to the Palais’ steps with 82 women — the number of female directors who’ve climbed those stairs since the first festival in 1946 (compared to 1688 male directors) — in the name of gender equality. Sadly, with all that rushing and shoulder-brushing we didn’t get to leave our footsteps in the sand.
