Gavin & Stacey said their goodbyes in 2010, after the final episode attracted 10.25 million viewers on New Year's Day - remarkable for a little romcom. The show kicked off the career of James Corden, who's since found his fame in America as a much loved (and loathed) chat show host. Smithy would be proud.
Season 3 wrapped up the series comfortably, with Nessa leaving Dave at the altar and Stacey finally getting pregnant. But what are Gavin and Stacey like as parents? Are Nessa and Smithy back together? What's their son Neil like as an older boy?
No doubt, all these questions will be answered soon. Very soon. Corden tweeted the announcement, saying: 'Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while... We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day'.
In a joint statement, both Corden and Jones describe their eagerness to return to the series: 'Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey - where they might be today and what their lives might look like'.
Most of the original cast is coming back, including Rob Brydon as Stacey's Uncle Brynn and Alison Steadman as Gavin's mother Pam. No word yet on whether Sheridan Smith is returning as Smithy's sister Rudi - but she's in a lot of series this year, so we think it's unlikely.
