Donmar Warehouse 2019 season

By Lucy Brooks on 10/4/2019

The Donmar Warehouse is bringing Covent Garden to the cutting edge of theatre-making with a new season that's as challenging as it is enticing. New artistic director Michael Longhurst kicks off his tenure with diversity, talent and timeliness, in a season that spans women's prisons, Arkansas slave plantations and European borders.

General booking for the first three plays of the new season opens at 9am on Tuesday 16 April.

As it's a small theatre with a big reputation and reasonable ticket prices, Donmar shows tend to sell out in a flash. But a new ticketing initiative should make this season more accessible. So if you miss out on the first round of booking, look out for the new Daily Donmar Release, where at least 40 tickets will be made available each morning for shows taking place one week later.

American writer Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is changing and challenging the way we consider race, one bravura play at a time.

He thrilled British audiences and critics with an inversion of 'blackface' in 2014's The Octoroon (Orange Tree Theatre and National Theatre). Now he returns to London with another subversive examination of America's relationship with race, both past and present.
