Squidsoup Installation, Southbank Centre

This December, the Southbank Centre gets a swirling, sweeping swarm of light and sound created by multi-media collective Squidsoup. 200 orbs fitted with speakers, LEDs, and movement sensors will be suspended from the ceiling of the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer.

Moving to Mars, Design Museum

Human presence on Mars is no longer the stuff of sci-fi fantasy as we become the first generation for whom this possibility becomes feasible. A new exhibition at the Design Museum envisions what life would be like on Mars' otherworldly landscape. Step into immersive environments and see what Martian homes will look like with a full-scale habitat designed by architectural studio HASSELL. The exhibition will also feature objects from NASA, the European Space Agency, and SpaceX, as well as the first spacesuit designed for the Mars surface.

Cars: Accelerating the Modern World, V&A

A thrilling new retrospective at the V&A traces humanity's need for speed through the design evolution of the automobile. 15 car models and 250 car-related objects will be displayed – but this isn't your run-of-the-mill car show.

Eco-visionaries, Royal Academy

The art and design industries are increasingly turning their creative efforts towards addressing resource depletion and climate change. A new exhibition at the Royal Academy puts these issues under further scrutiny. Eco-Visionaries will showcase architects and artists who are proposing cutting-edge responses which challenge conventional notions of sustainability.

Winter Art & Antiques Fair, Olympia London

This winter, following a string of international art and design fairs including Frieze, PAD and LAPADA, the acclaimed Winter Olympia Art & Antiques Fair returns to West London. Antiques enthusiasts and amateur collectors alike will have the opportunity to see pieces from a range of periods and countries. Everything from furniture dating from the 16th century to 20th century, Art Deco furniture and objects, Asian Antiques, Textiles and carpets, glass and mirrors and items from famous names such as Lalique, Matisse, Meissen, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
