Intimate and luxurious, the boutique film screening space at One Aldwych is the ultimate cinema experience.

Greeted by a smile and a chilled glass of Lallier Grande Réserve Champagne, members are guided across a stylish hotel lounge down into a small 30-seat screening room where a warm box of popcorn (in sweet or salty) awaits. Nestled into deep, squishy chairs that visitors sink into – and aided by a curious little tray that folds out of the armrest and holds your champagne – guests get comfortable and ready for the start of the classic film being screened that evening.

On the night that Culture Whisper members were invited to come to the screening, and we had the pleasure of watching one of our favourite films of the year, Greta Gerwig’s award-winning debut Lady Bird. But, if you missed out on the offer, no fear. Film and Fizz have a selection of films coming up between now and the end of June, including The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and On Chesil Beach. You can see the full line up here.

Following the film, the fizz and the box of popcorn, guests are led upstairs to their table (don't worry, you don't have to share) and are greeted with a three-course menu from Indigo with delicious, seasonal dishes. The wine and water aren't included in the offering, but that's made very obvious by the price tags for the recommended wines on the left-hand-side of the menu, so you won't get caught out.

A genuinely charming evening out in London, away from the stress of overcrowded cinemas and dinner reservations that overrun, Film & Fizz at One Aldwych marks a joyous few hours to spend with a friend in the heart of the capital.

Film and fizz Champagne, plus a box of popcorn. The 3 course meal after was excellent, the fish was melt in your mouth. Great value at £55 per head.

Jidori is London’s major yakitori restaurant, a popular type of eatery in Japan where the menu consists of one main dish: chicken skewers. Here you can sample a wide range of these Japanese-style kebabs and more to get a flavour of authentic Japanese street food. The tsukune minced chicken skewer and katsu curry scotch egg are particular favourites of ours.
