The 2018 Sony World Photography Awards is made up of four competitions: Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus. With more entries across all categories than previous years, 2018's competition is fiercer than ever.

The award's shortlisted candidates were selected from more than 320,000 entries from over 200 countries and territories. The upcoming exhibition at Somerset House, London, will feature the 600 winning, shortlisted and commended images. From Architecture and Landscape to Creative and Discovery — the professional competition's two new categories — the ground-breaking imagery reflects the trends and concerns of photographers working today.
While the professionals lead the way, we recommend spending some time with the young winners and amateurs who are trailblazing their way to stardom. The Open Competition winners, who are judged on a single image, are also worth scouting out.
The winners of the Awards will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London on April 19 and will be on display for the duration of the exhibition at Somerset House, London.
