Cole Porter's all-singing, all-dancing update of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew comes to London. Kiss Me Kate tells its own stormy romance through a meta-theatrical backstage story, as we watch a troupe of actors and dancers putting on a Shakespearean musical in a Baltimore theatre. It's a witty, jazz-inflected celebration of both Shakespeare and the general chaos of the stage, with classic songs including Brush up Your Shakespeare and Too Darn Hot.

The multi-award-winning 1948 musical is brought to life with full orchestra accompaniment and chorus in a new production by Opera North. It has already been hailed 'irresistible', 'blissful... brilliant' and 'so darn hot it's practically a fire risk' by critics after a jubilant 2015 production in Leeds.

Book fast if you want to brush up your Shakespeare: Kiss Me Kate is at the Coliseum for ten nights only.
