Smoke billowing cocktails; bubbling concoctions laced with Aperol and Tanqueray; or, the Elixir of Life: these are among the weird and wonderful cocktails on offer at the new branch of immersive cocktail bar, The Alchemist. Covent Garden, the heart of London's theatre-land, is a strategic spot for the second London branch of the chain that is renowned for its molecular mixology, placing theatre and immersive experiences at its core.

'The capital, in many ways, represents the country on a world stage, as an international destination visited by millions every year', says Simon Potts, Managing Director of The Alchemist. 'So this opening is a significant one for The Alchemist as we continue our journey as a brand.’ The Covent Garden outpost follows the success of the Bevis Marks venue in Liverpool Street, and is one of the group's 14 bars across the country. Another branch in Old Street is set to open in spring 2019.

The new 7,000 sq ft space on St Martin's Lane is home to a swanky, sultry bar and an adjacent 72-cover restaurant serving an all-day menu. Food is an eclectic mix of cuisines, offering dishes including the Full Alchemist breakfast, Jerk Chicken and Tandori Seabass Fillet. The all-day menu is complemented by an extensive drinks menu, expertly crafted by the team of in-house mixologists with 'an obsessive eye for detail'. The Alchemist's signature serve, The Lightbulb Moment, is a must-try for newcomers, as is star turn, Chase the Rainbow.

The Alchemist, Covent Garden, offers a memorable, immersive cocktail drinking experience that would top off any night to the theatre with a new form of theatricality.
