What's on at Serpentine Gallery London: 2019

With a showcase of the work of fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner and the latest video project from Hito Steyerl, the Serpentine Galleries London have an eclectic and exciting line-up for its 2019 season.

Grace Wales Bonner, Serpentine Sackler Gallery

The 2019 Serpentine Forward Programme kicks off with a showcase of the work of fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner. One of the biggest up-and-coming names in fashion, Wales Bonner won the LVMH Young Designer of the Year award in 2016 and was recently awarded with the British Land London Design Medal.The exhibition concludes with the unveiling of her forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2019 collection, which is called Mumbo Jumbo.

Emma Kunz exhibition, Serpentine Gallery

Emma Kunz was a Swiss healer, researcher and artist. She predicted that her geometric drawings were destined for the 21st Century and this year, the Serpentine will host the first UK solo exhibition of her work. Conceived in collaboration with the artist Christodoulos Panayiotou, this exhibition allows visitors to enjoy a body of work that remains ahead of its time.

Hito Steyerl exhibition, Serpentine Sackler Gallery

Hito Steyerl is renowned as one of the most innovative visual artists of her generation and was recently named the most influential person in contemporary art. She uses her latest work to explore the relationship between power and digital technology. The exhibition Power Plants showcases her latest video work, which includes filmed and animated footage. The project will also include an app and a series of guided walks.

Luchita Hurtado exhibition, Serpentine Sackler Gallery

Venezuelan artist Luchita Hurtado's varied upbringing is represented in her highly experimental art, which is typified by bold uses of colour. For its 2019 season, the Serpentine is hosting the first exhibition of her work in an institution. Now at the age of 97, Hurtado has a large body of work and this exhibition offers a great chance to see it all together for the first time.

Faith Ringgold exhibition, Serpentine Gallery

The 2019 Serpentine Forward Programme comes to a close with the first solo Faith Ringgold exhibition in a European public institution.

American artist, activist and educator, Faith Ringgold has used her work to explore the feminist and civil rights movements. Focusing on different series that Ringgold has produced over the past 50 years, this exhibition promises to be a thought-provoking conclusion to the 2019 Serpentine Season.
