Quentin Blake is perhaps best known for his work with Roald Dahl, but his continuing collaboration with children’s author John Yeoman is his longest. In celebration, the House of Illustration will be holding a retrospective chronicling the evolution of their work.

It was John Yeoman who first persuaded Quentin Blake to try his hand at children’s illustration in 1960. The result – A Drink of Water – sparked an artistic relationship that has lasted for more than 50 years and produced as many projects.

The exhibition celebrates the duo’s lifelong work, much of which is being re-published by Andersen Press. Yeoman and Blake's latest book, All the Year Round, will be launching a few days before the event.

The collaborative retrospective will be taking place just off Granary Square at the House of Illustration, which Quentin Blake himself opened in 2014 as a sort of temple to the art form.
