One of the biggest celebrations of the year for Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities around the world, Diwali represents the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Trafalgar Square will be suitably resplendent for the occasion.

The programme is packed with live music and dance performances on stage, and the square will be full of craft activities for the whole family plus yoga and henna art. There will also be heaps of tasty Indian food as well as other cuisines on offer.

It promises to be a lively event in one of London’s grandest locations.

  • Terroirs

The sort of wine bar/restaurant you never want to leave, this place has two separate floors depending on whether you fancy something bustling or more chilled. The French menu features both small plates and charcuterie alongside plats du jour that might include gilt head bream, monk’s beard, broad beans and rouille.

Another nice secret spot is Rose Bakery, at the top floor of Dover Street Market, for delicious quiche and desert. Tables are tiny and you'll have to fight your corner to get seats, between fashion people and wannabe curators.
