Bach, Verdi, Stravinsky ... and a Gilbert and Sullivan satire on the law
The beautifully restored Victorian theatre at Alexandra Palace re-opens with Gilbert and Sullivan's musical satire on British justice and the institution of marriage. The starry cast of Trial by Jury includes Mary Bevan (pictured) as the Plaintiff in a breach of promise case, with Neal Davies as the Judge. In the first half, music by Sullivan's contemporaries – a perfect fit for this building. Jane Glover conducts the BBC Singers and BBC Concert Orchestra.
