Sh!t Actually, Camden People’s Theatre

The team behind Sh!t Theatre takes on everyone’s favourite festive romcom, Love Actually, at Camden’s People Theatre this Christmas

Sh!t Actually, Camden People's Theatre
If crying, cringing and chuckling to the romcom Love Actually is one of your favourite Christmas traditions, you might dislike this unpopular opinion: Love Actually, is kind of shit, actually. At least according to Louise Mothersole and Rebecca Biscuit, the duo behind the fringe theatre hits DollyWould and Sing-a-long-A-Muppet Christmas Carol, who will be poking fun at the film we all love to hate – or hate to love – at Camden’s People Theatre this Christmas.

Sh!t Actually is far from a word-by-word remake of the Christmas classic Love Actually – in their play, Mothersole and Biscuit promise nothing less than live songs and queer love stories, inviting their public to shout-along, cry-along, drink-along and dance-along (if you don’t know how to dance, just move crabwise like Hugh Grant).

Although Sh!t Actually’s audience should prepare itself for some serious laughs, the play is not all about fun and games. Camden’s People Theatre’s mission is to champion different ways of thinking about issues that matter to people now, and in Sh!t Actually, women are given actual lines to ask if in 2019, we can still love the cherished – and definitely problematic – festive favourite, Love Actually.
