The Box of Delights, Wilton’s Music Hall

It’s as if Christmas came early! Poet John Masefield’s much-loved tale The Box of Delights becomes a festive holiday show at Wilton’s Music Hall this winter

The Box of Delights, Wilton’s Music Hall
If The Nutcracker seems a bit knackered this Christmas, families are invited to head to Wilton’s Music Hall for a show that features time travel, talking animals, flying cars – and much more.

Poet John Masefield’s 1935 holiday favourite, The Box of Delights, is adapted for the stage. The show returns to Wilton's after impressing audiences last year.

It tells the story of a young boy, Kay Harker, charged by a powerful magician with protecting the wondrous Box of Delights, an ingenious device with time travelling powers. But will he be able to safeguard the mysterious contraption from evil sorcerer Abner Brown, who will stop at nothing to get his hands on it?

The vaulted ceilings and opulent frescoes of Wilton’s Music Hall, an architectural gem of the old East End, provide an atmospheric setting for this production. Children of all ages will be enchanted by the play’s fairy-tales and folklore, while young Harry Potter fans will undoubtedly appreciate a hefty dose of magic. And with advent calendars being opened all over London, who will be able to resist the show’s Christmas spirit?
