Even though the art world champions contemporary art, nothing beats a good, much-loved antique. The history, the singularity, the workmanship, even the smell sets the imagination into overdrive. The idea of an object's life over generations – the hands that have held it – appeals to something deep within the human psyche.

This winter, following a string of international art and design fairs including Frieze, PAD and LAPADA, the acclaimed Winter Olympia Art & Antiques Fair returns to West London. Antiques enthusiasts and amateur collectors alike will have the opportunity to see pieces from a range of periods and countries. Everything from furniture dating from the 16^th century to 20^th century, Art Deco furniture and objects, Asian Antiques, Textiles and carpets, glass and mirrors and items from famous names such as Lalique, Matisse, Meissen, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
