Serpentine Pavilion 2019

Every year Kensington's Serpentine Gallery commissions an architecture firm to dream up a temporary pavilion for its grounds. Since 2000 this has been a highlight of London’s art and design calendar.


In 2018, Mexican architect Frida Escobedo was the 18th architect to design one of the world's most prestigious architectural commissions. This year, This year, the prestigious Serpentine Pavilion commission has been awarded to Japanese architect Junya Ishigami who will bring a cave-like canopy to Kensington Gardens this summer.

Open House London 2019

For one weekend in September some of the city's most exclusive doorways and secret spaces are unlocked for you to have a good snoop around.


The Open House London Weekend has become a highlight of the design and architecture calendar. Since 1992, the not-for-profit organisation has given ordinary citizens a chance to explore their city. In 2019 around 800 buildings will fling open their doors to the public, alongside a comprehensive programme of walks, tours and talks. While access to everything is free, some buildings require pre-booking. If you've got children, we recommend checking out the Open House Junior programme, which is specifically catered to budding architecture enthusiasts.

Best of London Design Festival, 2019

The London Design Festival is the largest and most innovative design event of the year. For its sixteenth edition, the festival brings the coolest designers out of their studios and into our cultural lives, celebrating and promoting London as the design capital of the world.


For one week only, more than 400 design-related events, public projects, and installations take over the city. There are eleven official Festival design districts to explore and six special projects at the V&A which is once again the official London Design Festival hub.

PAD London 2019

The first week of October sees galleries, museums and art fairs fling open their doors and welcome the flocks of collectors, curators and art enthusiasts who descend on the capital for Frieze London. The renowned art and design fair PAD London will once again be pitching its famous black tent in chic Berkeley Square, Mayfair, for the occasion.


PAD (Pavilion of Art and Design) Fair had its first taste of the British capital's rich and vibrant culture scene when it crossed the Channel in 2007. Older sister PAD Paris had already been at the height of artistic excellence for more than a decade when London came calling. With the recent launch of younger sister PAD Geneva, PAD is now regarded as one of the leading cross-collecting fair groups in Europe.

Frieze London 2019

The biggest art and design fair in the world returns to London in October 2019. The format is always roughly the same: a maze of booths, each housing a gallery selling its best wares. Two colossal tents take over Regent's Park, one housing Frieze London, the other housing Frieze Masters.


Frieze London brings together over 160 of the world’s leading contemporary galleries from New York to Berlin and Shanghai to São Paulo.
