London celebrates 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality
This spring, it's fifty years since homosexuality between men was finally (partially) decriminalised in the UK with the Sexual Offences Act. But, as London's greatest institutions rise up to mark the half-century, we're reminded of the countless hidden histories that are waiting to be told. The British Museum leads the way, with a love story that's nearly 2,000 years old. Click through our gallery to find the best events marking the occasion.
The National Portrait gallery are celebrating the work of photographer David Gwinnutt. In his long career, Gwinnutt has photographed many prominent gay people, starting in his student days around the notorious Blitz nightclub in Covent Garden. This free exhibition of his black and white photography, taken with a handheld camera in the homes of his subjects, is an intimate set of portraits.Part of the NPG's 'I am me' series.
