Best exhibitions on in London, August Highlights

By CW Contributor on 21/7/2017

It's hard to keep on top of London. Every day, a new opening rears its lovely head. But the art world hibernates in August, giving you a chance to catch the shows you might have missed.

Whether you're after a date idea or a dreamy afternoon, these are the shows (and the one new opening) you can't afford to miss this summer. Go, go, go! Catch them while you still can.

The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition is renowned for its chaotic, non-hierarchical 'Salon Hang', glamorous visitors and flourishing emerging arts scene.

As the world's biggest open submission art show, it's London's most anticipated showcase of contemporary art. Catch it before it disappears for another year.

Picasso: Minotaurs and Matadors review, Gagosian Gallery ★★★★★

Corrida de toros, mythology and an ancient Iberian bloodlust – this London show plumbs Picasso's sense of national identity, pitting his radical vision against the ancient mythology and traditions of Spain, the land of his birth.
