This spring edition of Cocktails in the City is taking place at The Vaults, the multi-purpose venue within the arches beneath Waterloo Station. Here, several of London’s best bars are present in pop-up form, offering tasting flights, sensory cocktail experiences and, of course, their signature drinks.
Yes, the bars are offering a shorter menu than usual and yes, many will be serving drinks sponsored by a particular spirits brand, but when you can sample the craftsmanship of some of London’s best mixologists without having to travel to the other side of the city, who are we to complain?
Among the institutions making an appearance is popular Mexican restaurant-cum-bar Ella Canta, whose mixologists wowed the crowds at Cocktails in the City last summer with their pink margaritas and mezcal-based concoctions. Off-beat, Victorian-themed bar chain Mr. Fogg’s is also present, providing quirky takes on age-old classics.
Eve Bar by chef-to-watch Adam Handling is also making an appearance – here’s hoping the team bring some of the hedonism and second-to-none bar snacks from the Covent Garden bar with them. And, for those who’ve heard the hype surrounding Soho cocktail bar Cahoots, but haven’t fancied venturing underground to try it out, now’s your chance to sample its creations without sitting in its 1940s tube station setting.
Tickets to Cocktails in the City cost £20 and include a free cocktail of your choosing from any bar on site, plus a booklet guiding you through the offering from each bar. All subsequent cocktails cost £7.50.
