Gavin Turk talk, Victoria and Albert Museum

Currently one of the most talked about YBA visual artists, Gavin Turk will be discussing his work and philosophy at the Victoria and Albert Museum next February.

We loved Gavin Turk’s latest exhibition Who What When Where How and Why, currently on show at the Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall. Ever since his tongue-in-cheek postgraduate exhibition left his tutors fuming in the early 1990s, Turk’s playfulness in the face of the art establishment has continued to inspire and delight.

Now an internationally respected artist, Turk has recently been commissioned to create several public sculptures in London, the largest of which will be 12 feet long and sit nearby St Paul’s Cathedral.

This will be just one of the topics on discussion at the V&A next February when Turk will be giving an hour-long lecture, followed by drinks and refreshments. He will also be reflecting on the ‘myth’ of the artist and the ‘authorship’ of work – concepts that have always been central to his own pieces.

Tickets are £15 for members and non-members and can be booked here through the V&A website.
