Things to do with kids in London: April edition

April is the start of the Easter holidays. Celebrate 35 years since the publication of much-loved author Rod Campbell’s classic children's storybook Dear Zoo at London Zoo.

Kids of all ages are invited to enter the Dear Zoo story and embark on an interactive trail of the zoo, collecting stamps, exploring the storytelling hub and learning more about the real life animals from the books.

Ocean Invaders, Sea Life London Aquarium

A new permanent exhibition is opening at the Sea Life London Aquarium this Easter holidays: jellyfish, those prehistoric, terrifying, slimy, stingy, beach-ruining monsters are gliding gracefully into the capital.

Moomin Adventures at Kew Gardens

For three weeks only, families discover an interactive Moomin trail winding its way around the botanical Kew Gardens, indulge in an Easter activity workshop in the 'Moomin Festival Camp', and meet a real-life Moomin-costumed character roaming the grounds.

Now Play This & Game Changers: Another Way to Play, Somerset House

Somerset House is staging a month-long cultural celebration of games and play, as part of the city-wide games initiative, London Games Festival. A perfect kids' activity for the Easter holidays, the 18th-century mansion is hosting a three-day event, Now Play This, as well as opening a special exhibition Game Changers: Another Way to Play, that will run until May.

The Velveteen Rabbit, Unicorn Theatre

Returning to London after a successful run on Broadway is the Unicorn Theatre's Velveteen Rabbit. It follows the story of a sweet toy bunny who wishes to one day come to life. After continually being neglected by his owner, he is finally noticed and loved. As their time together develops, he grows closer to being brought to life.
