You don't need to venture all the way to the Edinburgh Fringe to experience electrifying improvised comedy. This September four of the most accomplished improvisers in the country come together for a spontaneous new show that invites you to have your cake - and eat it too.

There Will Be Cake - at once a title and promise - will vary from show to show, but there will be actual cake at every performance. Expert improvisers Marcus Brigstocke, Rachel Parris, Pippa Evans and Paul Foxcroft will come up with new jokes and silliness as they go along. With birthdays as a starting point, the show spans surprises, presents, balloons and bitter disappointment.

Though There Will Be Cake has been in development for a few months, each show will have the spontaneity of improvisation. It could be a recipe for disaster, but with these experienced and popular comic performers leading the way there's a good chance the confectionery will be overshadowed by the comedy.
