Pigs and Dogs, new 10-minute play, is the second Caryl Churchill premiere in the Royal Court's Sixty Years Young season

The Royal Court's Sixty Years Young season started with the world premiere of a new (and astonishing) play by Caryl Churchill, a wholly worthy contender for title of 'greatest living playwright'.
Now, as an extra surprise for theatre fans, another new Churchill play is coming to the Royal Court. But, before you get too excited, Pigs and Dogs is just 10 minutes long and will show for only 10 days.
Focussing on the Anti-Homosexuality Act passed in Uganda in 2014, the short, taut play explores the context of this law and brings the prejudice and resentment into sharp focus. Churchill's script is largely inspired by material from Boy Wives and Female Husbands (Stephen O.Murray and Will Roscoe), a scholarly assessment of homosexuality in African culture, from ancient to contemporary.
At just 10 minutes, Pigs and Dogs is hardly a whole evening, but what an amuse bouche!
It will play from 6:30pm at the big Jerwood Theatre Downstairs before the previously announced Anthony Neilson play Unreachable, though audiences do not need to attend both plays. Tickets for Pigs and Dogs are sold separately for £5 each.
Public booking for Pigs and Dogs opens at 10am on Friday 10 June.
