Selfridges opens largest eyewear department in the UK
Eleanor Robinson, Selfridges' director of accessories, thinks that one pair of glasses is no longer enough to meet the needs of the well-dressed. 'You need a wardrobe of glasses', she says.

Now, in a move to match this attitude, Selfridges has opened the largest eyewear department in the whole of the UK. Three hundred square metres are filled with polished cabinets containing the most covetable brands and styles of the moment, from Le Specs to Chanel.

'Sixteen of these brands are new to Selfridges, including a cluster of brands exclusive to the store such as Fak by Fak and Project Produkt. Several brands such as Grey Ant, Retrosuperfuture, and Thiery Lasry have created exclusive styles within their collections especially for Selfridges', said a spokesperson for Selfridges.

In an age where Alessandro Michele is giving sunglasses pride of place on Gucci littered runways, and where matrix-style wrap-arounds are experiencing a mighty renaissance in the gilded halls of Prada, we expect this department to become a mecca for eyewear enthusiasts far and wide.
