Soho Residence, Wardour Street

The former Roundhouse building on Wardour Street has reopened as Soho Residence – an elegant, plant-adorned bar spread over three floors

Soho Residence, Soho
The Roundhouse building on Wardour Street, which dates back to 1892, was most recently known as funky, urban-chic The O Bar before it was closed down to undergo a £1m restoration. Now, its doors have been flung open again, this time revealing a bright and lofty plant-adorned space serving cocktails and club beats across its three floors.

If you're yet to venture there, here's what to expect from the top down: the first floor Gin Parlour which is available for private hire – is the place to get comfy on a snug sofa and gaze out of an elongated window at the busy streets below. Meander downstairs and you'll find yourself immersed in the art deco-inspired Botanical Bar, complete with hanging plants, banquette seating and general plush vibes.

Some visitors might want to leave it there, but those who venture down another set of stairs will find themselves in the throbbing heart of the venue: the basement Festival Club. Expect a more refined late night partying experience here than at neighbouring spots; the space is kitted out to entertain the city's glitterati into the wee hours with DJ sets, eclectic cocktails and sophisticated fun.
