In May 1997, the greatest chess player in the world was beaten by IBM supercomputer Deep Blue. It was the first time that machine intelligence outperformed human intellect in a chess duel at the very highest level, and the contest duly became one of the key signpost events in the development of artificial intelligence.

But is artificial intelligence really catching up on human intelligence? Twenty years on, Garry Kasparov will be telling his side of the story for the first time: what it was like to play against an untiring and unreadable opponent, why the odds were so stacked, and what he has taken away from the experience.

The talk will be followed by a conversation with legendary former MIT Media Lab Professor, Mike Hawley.
