Burberry may be known as a haven for fashion lovers, but its Piccadilly Circus store is also attracting gastronomes. This refined all-day cafe has a delightful menu of classic British dishes that are sophisticated in both flavour and presentation.

It's all very, very quintessentially British. High-end seasonal produce is chosen with scrupulous integrity. There are homemade crumpets for breakfast with elderflower and gooseberry jam; Hansen & Lyderman smoked salmon and Lalani & Co. tea with Calabrian bergamot.

For the full British experience, go for afternoon tea when there is a stylish trolley of delicate sandwiches and enticing cakes available into the evening. Otherwise, opt for savoury: the Thomas's Plougman's is a cut above the rest, while the Lobster Benedict merits trying. Top it off with a bowl of strawberries, cream and shortbread for desert.

Thomas's Cafe has a bright central dining area as well as plenty of low-lit nooks and crannies suited to private tête-à-têtes. Whatever the occasion, it is stylish and civilised spot for post shopping rejuvenation.
