Every year since its conception in 2006, the 'Marathon' series at the Serpentine Gallery, Hyde Park has been an annual convention of art, culture, science and technology. This year, the themes are miracles, ritual, imagination and magical thinking - the sacred and the wondrous, that run parallel to yet hidden from a humdrum reality. This is what the imaginary is" said writer and philosopher Edouard Glissant. "we feel the rumbling underneath us.”

This year, speakers include female artist Etel Adnan, whose tapestries charmed us this summer James Bridle, Adrián Villar Rojas and Tomás Saraceno; writers Marie NDiaye, Edna O’Brien, Andrew O'Hagan and Adam Thirlwell. Our favourite set designer Es Devlin will also be presenting - who masterminded theBarbican's Cumberbatch Hamlet, the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony and videos for Kanye West, Jay Z, Lady Gaga and many more.
