Reasons to scare yourself with Sinner, Netflix: review

Netflix's brilliant 'why dunnit' has been one of the most compelling TV shows of the year

Sinner, Netflix
A normal woman, sitting on the beach with her husband and small child, is suddenly overcome with the urge to stab a strange man with the knife she was using to peel fruit for her kid. What? Why? No, but seriously why?

Forget 'who dunnits', Sinner is the revolutionary Netflix show leading the way in 'why dunnits'. It's grizzly and gruesome and makes for a thrilling, compulsive watch full of red herrings and jaw-dropping revelations.

Jessica Biel stars as the murderous beach going lady, a woman whose memory is seems disproportionately stressed by the goings on, whose tears are ever rolling down cheeks and whose story just doesn't quite add up.

Biel is joined by Christopher Abbott, who stars as her loving, but doubting husband Mason Tannetti, who flounders to understand what's happening around him.

This Christmas, if you can't bear to see another romantic comedy covered in a gentle layer of snow, sit down and binge your way through Sinner instead.
