A new adaptation on Netflix: Roald Dahl and his beloved stories

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and more – all our favourite Roald Dahl stories are coming to Netflix in a new project

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will be getting the Netflix treatment
We have some whizzpopping news! Netflix is joining forces with The Roald Dahl Story Company to create an exclusive animated series based on the author's best work.

Roald Dahl's books have inspired countless adaptations, most recently the live-action adaptation of The BFG directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Mark Rylance as the titular giant.

The author's widow, Felicity Dahl applauds the move to Netflix. She said: 'Our mission is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories. This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible'.

Production on the series begins in 2019, which means we'll be waiting a while before we see any chocolate factories, levitating cakes, or stacks of snozzcumbers.

Here’s a full list of the Roald Dahl titles lined up for the Netflix treatment:
