All 10 series of the successful sitcom following the lives of six New Yorkers: Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Joe and Chandler are available to stream right now. It's the box set that Netflix tells us is: 'the One with the Show Everyone's Been Asking Us to Add'.

Starring Hollywood sweet-heart Jennifer Lawrence, Joy is the story of an intrepid business woman who strikes out on her own, in the face of her family's low opinion of her capabilities, to become a success and founder of a business empire. JOY stars Robert De Niro, Edgar Ramirez and Isabella Rossellini, and – of course – Bradley Cooper (Joy is yet another film from David O.Russel to star both Lawrence and Cooper). This defies genre to tell a story about love, loyalty, family and bravery.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency: season two

With a new year comes a new case for the 'holistic detective agent' Dirk Gently to solve, mostly by accident. Starring Elijah Wood (from Lord of the Rings) and based on the novel by Douglas Adams (author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) expect lots of silliness and less-than intelligent guesswork.

A new superhero is coming to a Netflix service near you. Meet Jefferson Pierce, a man with a secret. Nearly nine years ago, Pierce discovered superhuman powers and used them to fight a criminal gang terrorising his home town. Despite promising to hang up the metaphorical cape for good, Black Lightning must return to save his family, his community and (of course) himself.

The then 15-year-old, Malala Yousafzai was singled out for advocating girls' education, attacked, miraculously survived and is now a passionate campaigner for girls' education (and a student at Oxford University).

Nora Efron is at it again, this time with the two true stories of Julie and Julia, two American women living in different times, but finding salvation and a place in the world through cooking.

Starring Meryl Streep as American chef and Amy Adams, as the fledgling writer Julie Powell inspired by the great chef, this is the story of bravery and the magic of French cooking.
