Songstress Bernadette Robinson pays homage to five of music's greatest divas in a tuneful one-woman show

Bernadette Robinson: Songs for Nobodies
Five divas will reign supreme as esteemed actor and singer Bernadette Robinson sings her way through the greatest hits of Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Maria Callas.

Songs for Nobodies transfers to the Ambassadors Theatre after impressive European première at Wilton's Music Hall. Playwright Joanna Murray Smith, whose thriller Switzerland is currently playing in the West End, wrote the 'play with songs' to showcase Robinson's talent and extraordinary vocal range. Priscilla Queen of the Desert director Simon Phillips bring musical theatre expertise to the production.

Over the 90-minute performance Robinson demonstrates unparalleled range and mutability, shifting from the clear soprano of Maria Callas and rich smoothness of Judy Garland into Billie Holiday's moody blues. As classic songs are given new life, we learn more about the ordinary women behind these hits and how their success shaped their lives.

Enthusing about the show's transfer, Joanna Murray Smith said: 'It is testimony to Bernadette's performance that audiences have come back over and over again to see the show because their reaction is so deeply felt and because they feel so uplifted. They laugh, cry and contemplate defining moments in their own lives, at the same time as being totally stunned by a single performer's inspirational ability to resurrect beloved icons.'
