Grimly Handsome, The Site, Royal Court Theatre

Julia Jarcho's darkly comic thriller is re-formed in a series of installations in the Royal Court's temporary peformance space

Grimly Handsome, Royal Court Theatre
Violent fantasy is played out in the Royal Court Theatre's new temporary performance space The Site, as a bold new play transfers from New York.

'In an unnamed American city, two strangers sell Christmas trees on the sidewalk; two cops work to solve a killing spree; and a young woman finds herself transforming in ways she could never have imagined,' so goes the creepy, capricious drama of Julia Jarcho's Grimly Handsome. It premiered Off-Broadway in 2013 to superlative reviews, an encore production and the Obie Award for 'Best New Play'.

Now Grimly Handsome comes to London in a new production designed by designed by Sam Pritchard and Chloe Lamford, which brings the play to life through a series of installations across The Site. Lamford created the temporary performance space as 'an experiment in design, collaboration and process', so we look forward to seeing how it shapes the bold, strange terrains of Jarcho's writing.
