East London's phenomenally busy Arcola Theatre has announced its programme for the spring/summer season.

It's going to be a packed year. Alongside Amy Draper directing These Trees Are Made Of Blood – a cabaret-style exposé of the dictatorship years in Argentina – a collaboration between Draper, Darren Clerk and Paul Jenkins which is returning after its premiere there in 2015. Helena Bell will direct the world premiere of Ready Or Not, Naylah Ahmed's tense, politics-driven thriller set in a suburban home, and Neil Bartlett is at the helm for his new adaptation of Albert Camus’ 20th century classic, The Plague, updated to 2017.

RSC favourite Greg Hicks takes the title role in a fresh production of Richard III. A regular at the Arcola, having previously starred in The Kreutzer Sonata, Clarion and An Enemy Of The People, Hicks draws on a series of Shakespearean triumphs – as King Lear, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar and Macbeth – to offer a startling new Richard. Multiple award-winner Mehmet Ergen directs.

Bookings from 8 March.
