Orange is the New Black to be cancelled after Season 7
Say it isn't so! The news dropped yesterday on the Orange is the New Black social media pages that the show will end with season 7.

In a posted video, cast members announced the ending of the series. Kate Mulgrew, who plays Galina 'Red' Reznikov, proudly stated: 'I'm going to miss playing and living on the edge of one of the most groundbreaking, original, and controversial series of this decade'.

Writer-creator Jenji Kohan said of the show's cancellation: 'After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. My heart is orange but fade to black.'

Orange is the New Black was one of Netflix's first original shows when season 1 was released in 2013. Since then, it's been nominated for six Golden Globes and nineteen Emmys.

Based on the memoir by Piper Kerman about being in prison, the story follows a fictionalised version of Piper (Taylor Schilling) adjusting to life inside Litchfield Correctional Facility.

Season 7 will be on Netflix in summer 2019. Read our review of season 6
