London Podcast Festival 2018, Kings Place

The London Podcast Festival returns this September for the third year in a row, with a two-week line-up featuring some of the most popular names on the circuit. It’s a chance to hear your favourite podcasts live, sit among an audience of fellow enthusiasts and meet the podcasters themselves. The festival spans two weekends, with live events taking place between Friday 7 – Sunday 9 September, and Thursday 13 – Sunday 16 September.

Are you a podcaster yourself? If so, you might want to check out the workshops and discussions on as part of the Podcast Maker Weekend. Unedited will be leading a panel and audience discussion about diversity in the podcasting industry, and the Earwolf team will be hosting two extra comedy panels specifically for podcasters.



The diverse line-up of the festival is geared to appease all tastes, with the first weekend of shows covering comedy, sport, culture, activism and general life ponderings between them. Top Flight Time Machine is a chance to revel in football’s glorious and inglorious past with hosts Andy Dawson and Sam Delaney, who cover the early years of the Premier League and over three decades of World Cup tournaments. Meanwhile Leena Norms’ I’m Not Being Funny But - podcast puts special guests in the hot seat and asks everything from ‘what’s it like to be a leave voter?’ to ‘is my workplace racist?’.

In need of some inspiration? Book to hear actors, writers and entrepreneurs Joivan Wade and Percelle Ascott interview inspiring young people about how they got started, in their podcast How I Got Here. Or settle down for a laugh with Pete Allison and Dave Cribb, hosts of Friends with Friends, as the pair ask a special guest to pick their favourite episode of hit sitcom Friends, and go over it with a fine tooth comb.



The second weekend of live podcast shows is just as exciting. Highlights include Cracking the Mystery of the Mystery Show in which Starlee Kine, the creator of Mystery Show podcast that focuses on solving everyday mysteries, will talk about creating the show as well as her work on This American Life. Starlee will be in conversation with Caroline Crampton, head of podcasts for the New Statesman and the host of the pop culture show SRSLY.

Those looking for explanations of the world beyond what's offered in an encyclopedia or on Wikipedia, should book a spot to hear Tim Daniels and Tom Reynolds attempt to explore and explain every possible topic in The Complete Guide to Everything. Meanwhile Matt Gourley’s I Was There Too is an insightful look into stories of cinema and television history from an insider’s fly-on-the-wall perspective.



For those in need of something a little more serious, Cariad Lloyd’s Griefcast is an award-winning podcast that explores how we grieve. With the help of three comedians, Cariad questions whether grief changes with age, whether there’s an afterlife and the backstories behind awkward funeral songs. Past guests include Robert Webb, Sara Pascoe and David Baddiel.

We’re also excited to listen in on millennial-favourite Nobody Panic (formerly The Debrief Podcast), a very funny delve into life’s big, small, fun and sometimes scary adult questions, hosted by Stevie Martin and Tessa Coates.
