Vets in Action, ZSL London Zoo

Stop by the London Zoo this February half-term to see vets – in action

Vets in Action, London Zoo
ZSL London Zoo is dedicated to taking visitors behind the scenes, with opportunities to be a zookeeper for a day or embark on an interactive expedition through their lion exhibit.

This February half-term, ZSL will be hosting a brand-new educational experience to keep little ones entertained. Children will be able to experience the Zoo from the perspective of the vet team, thanks to a week of family-friendly events in the specially recreative interactive vetrenary centre.

After arriving in the hospital's reception area, the aspiring vets will prep for work by donning hairnets and masks before joining the rest of the team. Children will be right in the middle of the action – assisting with examinations, x-rays, and treatments. The twist? All the procedures will be carried out on toys, so children can experience the variety of work carried out by zookeepers on a daily basis without getting too close to any lions, tigers, or bears.

Determined to provide families with an education on wildlife that would give David Attenborough a run for his money, ZSL has arranged a packed schedule full of talks and activities to further illuminate the fascinating world of daily life at the Zoo. Children will have the chance to learn everything about what the ZSL team does to ensure the 18,000 animals who inhabit the Zoo stay healthy; from microchipping penguins to checking tiger teeth.

Families looking for new ways of seeing the Zoo this February half-term should be sure to book Vets in Action for an experience that promises to be paw-sitively awesome.
