Bear with us, we know this sounds somewhat mad: this February half term we think you should enter your children in a puddle jumping championship, far out in South West London.

Why? Because the Puddle Jumping Championships are being held at the London Wetland Centre, where birds from around the world and friendly otters can be spotted in their natural habitat.

So pack your wellies and prepare your children for the sporting event of a lifetime. Points will be awarded for jumping style, creativity, enthusiasm, and splash size.

The Puddle Jumping Championships is free with paid admission to the Centre. Every contestant to complete the obstacle course will receive a commemorative sticker to celebrate their puddle jumping skills.

While Puddle Jumping has yet to be officially categorised as an Olympic sport, we encourage all families to shake off the cold and enjoy the great outdoors this February.

Recommended for children ages 0-8
The official competition will take place daily from 11:30am - 12:30pm and 2:30 - 3.30pm
