Pavilion Family Day, Serpentine Gallery

Children create a whole new universe from scratch with help from artist Julia Tcharfas, inspired by SelgasCano's psychedelic Serpentine Pavilion

Kids events at the Serpentine Gallery
On Sunday 23 August the Serpentine Gallery Summer Pavilion is hosting a free, drop-in Pavilion Family Day, in which families are invited to spend an afternoon with an artist, leaving the earth and re-imagining a collective (and colourful) future.
Join artist Julia Tcharfas (whose current work includes a collaboration with the Science Museum to bring us Cosmonauts this autumn) to design a space settlement, transform into an artist and create an entire future universe from scratch. Children can model a spacesuit and create a visual map and record ideas for the future of our world - how will future settlements look? What kind of air will they breath? Will people breath at all? What kind of clothes, schools jobs and architecture will we have?
Using the psychedelic, free flowing architecture of the Serpentine Pavilion by Spanish wife and husband couple SelgasCano as inspiration, visiting children can discover a whole new world - with the marbled, multicoloured material of the pavilion (not a magic carpet) to transport them there.
