Divine Proportions, The Vaults

Immerse yourself in a dining experience fit for the gods

Divine Proportions, The Vaults
Fancy your own Bacchic revelry? Divine Proportions is a dining experience unlike any other, taking its inspiration from Greek mythology – primarily, god of wine and ritual madness Dionysus. Deities, Muses and Maenads host a raunchy cabaret show to entertain guests as they munch their way through a five-course feast. And don't miss the afterparty, where you'll be transported to the depths of the Underworld for a bacchanal you're unlikely to forget in a hurry.

Led by Dionysus, the night sees you venture from one chamber to the next, journeying through tunnels adorned with flowers, fairy lights and tutu-esque mesh, before arriving in a paradise of indulgence and entertainment. The feast begins as soon as you enter the bar, where baskets laden with warm, fresh bread hang from the ceiling, enticing guests to tuck in at their leisure. It then continues at the banquet table, where highlights include a bizarre yet delicious foamy apéritif, coloured by turmeric and boasting a cardamon jelly base. The main course – a plate of guinea fowl breast and roasted veg – could have benefited from another ladle of gravy, but was delicious all the same.

Now let's talk cocktails. The Ambrosia (Advocate, Tuaca, Ciontreau, vanilla and beetroot orange) was one of the best we've tasted – like Christmas in a cup. Meanwhile Midas Touch (mead, thyme-infused honey, gold dust and prosecco), although a little on the sweet side, is another winner, all gold and pretty. Sadly, the espresso martini – often the party favourite – is missable here on a count of its watery consistency.

The party doesn’t finish with dinner; once you and your fellow revellers have eaten your fill you’ll be led down into the Underworld for cocktails, wine punch and a Dionysian disco. Entertainment here is of the rowdy and raucous variety; don't come for the acting or storytelling of the gods, but if you'd like to tuck into a sumptuous dinner while watching a cabaret show that's bawdy, fearless and visually stunning – Divine Proportions is the immersive experience for you.
