Launceston Place

Almost-Michelin-starred Launceston Place in South Kensington is known for its seasonal dishes inspired by continental cuisine.

Launceston Place, South Kensington
Head chef Ben Murphy has curated a seasonally-inspired modern European menu at Launceston Place, a hidden gem tucked away in South Kensington. The bright and airy fine dining restaurant is located within a 1989 townhouse on its quiet namesake street, however it is no wallflower – the dark exterior makes it particularly distinctive and is a striking contrast to the decor inside. The interior features an elegant light grey colour scheme and dark wood flooring, and contemporary artwork curated by Amar Gallery lines the walls.

The Sunday lunch menu is one of Launceston Place's biggest draws: it is a refreshingly different approach to the traditional roast dinner in which Murphy explores a range of meats and their cuts. Dishes include pig's head with pickles, horseradish and crackling; chicken with egg, tarragon and girolle; and lamb with nori, olive and cucumber. Make sure you save some room for the peach soufflé with yoghurt.
