Wembley Park Winterfest 2021, Reunited in Light

Blazing lights will mark the 2021 Christmas season at Wembley Park, with the return of its Winterfest 'Reunited in Light'it

Wembley Park Winterfest 2021
Over the past few years Wembley Park has become a vibrant quarter of London, its plentiful offer to visitors, both local and from further afield, no longer restricted to the legendary Wembley Stadium.

After the disappointing cancellation of last year's public Christmas festivities owing to Covid-19, this year Wembley Park's Winterfest is coming back with a vengeance. Following on from its very successful 2019 festival, United in Light, Winterfest 2021 has been named Reunited in Light and will comprise a variety of light displays to delight and dazzle to whole family.

A seasonal must is, of course, the Christmas tree; and Reunited in Light will boast the tallest LED Christmas tree in London, adorned with digital artwork by local artist Yoni Alter. City Lights, made up of 100,000 kinetic lights, which pulse to different rhythms to evoke the pace of a cityscape, will be on display on the 25-metre-high walk-through tree.

Celebrating our ability to join with others following so many months of isolation, Reunion is a light installation from Kumquat Lab, which features a series of light arches forming a circular space where people are invited to meet. It'll be on display in the Market Square.

Opening later in this year's Winterfest will be Reflections of the Future.

Billed as the centrepiece of this year's festival, Reflections of the Future will cover half the length of the Olympic Way with the Wembley Stadium arch as its background. To be inaugurated on Thursday 9 December, this specially commissioned light installation by Lucid Creates is a mirrored audio-visual walkway, which aims to transport visitors on a multi-sensory journey with the aid of optical illusion, light and sound.

Visitors can also enjoy the permanent fixtures of the Wembley Park Art Trail, alongside a new photography exhibition of works by 12 UK-based photographers ranging from recent graduates to established award-winners Tami Aftab and Sophie Harris-Taylor. The chosen works will be displayed across 16 light-boxes.

The grand Winterfest Switch On is on Thursday 25 November from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. To attend, register here.
