The flying snowman from Raymond Briggs's world-famous picture book will once again touch down at the Peacock Theatre this November, ready for the Christmas season. This season is particularly poignant: it's dedicated to Raympnd Briggs, who died in August aged 88.

The Snowman has seen numerous adaptations, most notably the 1982 classic animated television special, but since 1997 the Birmingham Repertory Theatre's own adaptation has become the seasonal treat at the Peacock Theatre.

Like the film, the show is entirely without dialogue and follows a boy and his snowman on a Christmas adventure, where they encounter everything from dancing reindeer to Father Christmas himself. Howard Blake’s score, including Walking in the Air, will be performed by a live orchestra.

The Snowman
is directed by Bill Alexander. Design is by Ruari Murchison, lighting by Tim Mitchell, and choreography by Robert North.

Described by the Huffington Post as 'a joyful festive treat that is entertaining for both children and adults alike', The Snowman has been a family favourite for many years, and remains fresh and magical.

The little ones in particular are likely to enjoy following the little boy and his enchanted snowman on their journey through a whimsical winter wonderland.

  • Roka, Aldwych

There are four Rokas around London – Mayfair, Aldwych, Canary Wharf, and Fitzrovia – and each one provides a dark urbane corner for some of the best (if most expensive) Japanese food in London.

This 60-seater cocktail den from Idris Elba can be found at the Waldorf Hilton in Covent Garden. In addition to its 'hidden cocktail menu' (guests can expect drinks to share a tropical theme), small plates cooked up by The Waldorf’s resident Executive Chef Karl Richardson are served.

Not vegan, but 'plant-based', by CHLOE. screams NYC cool with a menu to match. There’s quinoa taco salad, a guac burger, matcha kelp noodles, and thrillingly, vegan mac n' cheese. Be sure to check out their special London by CHLOE. menu for plant-based takes on British classics.
