Nathan Sawaya’s Lego creations
Since its invention in 1932 in Denmark, Lego has become of the world’s most popular children’s toys. Now, American artist Nathan Sawaya has elevated the humble brick into an art form. Sawaya, who gave up a career in law to pursue his dream of being an artist, chose Lego as a medium for its accessibility.

The travelling exhibition comprises of over 80 large scale sculptures, including replicas of iconic art works like Rodin’s ‘Thinker’ and Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’. Also on display is Nathan Sawaya’s ‘Yellow’ a giant sculpture of a man ripping open his chest, amongst other fascinating creations such as a T-Rex constructed from over 80,000 bricks. Other highlights include a special ‘British Room’ created for the London opening, and an interactive zone, where visitors will be able to make their own masterpieces.
Sawaya’s creations will doubtlessly be appreciated by both adults and children alike. And the vast scale of his work will inspire the little ones to think creatively about their own creations. A show not to be missed!
