As news of works available to view during lockdown goes, it doesn’t get much better than this: Michael Clark Company’s triple bill to a simple rock ’n’ roll... song is now on BBC iPlayer, where it’ll be available to view for two months.

This is an unmissable work from one of the most exacting and glorious choreographers on the British dance scene. Royal Ballet trained Clark was a mesmerising classical dancer; enthused by the punk movement of the late 70s and 80s he created his own language using classical ballet as a basis but dressing it in all of punk’s iconoclasm and irreverence. In doing so, he brought a new vitality to dance.

As the decades went on, Clark’s style evolved into a unique language, which continues to feed on popular culture but still requires impeccable technique.

to a simple rock ’n’ roll... song dates from 2016, but the version now available on iPlayer is a rousing 2017 remake, that brought a sold-out Barbican Theatre to its feet in a spontaneous and unanimous standing ovation.

Culture Whisper was knocked sideways – here is our contemporaneous five-star review.

to a simple rock ’n’ roll... song on BBC iPlayer is introduced by Jarvis Cocker, who collaborated in a previous Michael Clark show and credits Clark with having introduced him to the world of dance.

On BBC iPlayer from Monday 20 April for two months
