Alexander Whitley is one of the most interesting and challenging British choreographers working today, with a fascination for science, its interaction with human emotion and how to translate all that into a coherent choreographic narrative.

Much delayed by the pandemic, his Overflow finally made it to the stage at Sadler's Wells in May last year. Read Culture Whisper's full ★★★★★ review here.

Now Whitley is streaming the filmed version of Overflow, with a live broadcast introduced by himself on Wednesday 6 April, and the film on demand for a week after. Here's a taster:

Tickets cost £5 per household and Whitley is donating 10% of takings to the Disasters Emergency Committee humanitarian appeal for Ukraine.

For all its fascinating interplay between light and darkness, Overflow on stage was often far too dark to allow the audience a full appreciation of what was going on. It is to be hoped that the film version will have tackled that issue.
