Opera Holland Park has a fine reputation for staging new and neglected music as well as the classics, so, of course, its Christmas concert is a concert with a difference.

Actors Kevin Whately, Maureen Lipman and Neil Pearson will be among guest celebrities giving seasonal readings at a family event in the atmospheric church of St Columba, Pont Street, and there will be carols. But these are woven into a new work by Will Todd, composer of OHP's ever-popular and hugely entertaining Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Todd's A Christmas Carol, based on the story by Dickens, features eight principal singers from OHP in the familiar roles: Scrooge (Kit Benjamin), the Ghost of Christmas Past (Victoria Simmonds), Bob Cratchit (Robert Murray, fresh from his superb turn as Tom in OperaGlassWorks' The Rake's Progress), and the rest.

What promises to be a warm-hearted and glamorous event comes with the option of a drinks reception after the concert (ticket and reception, £45), and also, gourmet dinner at the Sloane Club (£125).

We hope there's a figgy pudding...
