Coraline, Barbican Theatre
'She spied on our lives through the little doll's eyes, and saw that we weren't happy...' - Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman's unsettling story of Coraline received a stop-motion makeover in 2009. Now, his children's novel will receive an opera interpretation at the Barbican Theatre.

Coraline is moody and bored when she opens a mysterious door in her new home. Behind it lies the perfect escape – the Other World, complete with perfect versions of her house, friends, and parents. While her Other Mother and Other Father are wonderful to begin with, Coraline soon begins to realise that all is not right... she’s trapped! Can Coraline rescue her real parents from the evil Other Mother and escape back to her own world?

Internationally acclaimed composer Mark-Anthony Turnage has transformed Coraline into a sparkling, scary opera. Cheer on Coraline as she navigates the spooky Other World, full of magical cats and frightening fiends. The thrilling musical re-enactment will have the little ones watching with eyes big as buttons.
