But if you think that art collecting and investment is solely the province of the super-wealthy and corporations, the Affordable Art Fair is here to change your mind. Launched in 1999, the Affordable Art Fair is the highly popular visual culture marketplace that attracts some 110 galleries showing and representing more than 1,000 artists. All the original art is priced between £100 and £6,000, so it's a great place to get acquainted with emerging talent and the art of collecting contemporary pieces today.

However, even at the Affordable Art Fair the choice of what to buy and who to buy can be somewhat overwhelming.

But don’t be intimidated: ahead of the spring edition of the fair taking place in Battersea Park this March, Affordable Art Fair Director, Luci Noel, is here to give us a helping hand.

In this exclusive Culture Whisper event, held at one of London's most Instagrammable art hotels, citizenM Tower Hill, Luci will give Culture Whisper readers a one-off introductory talk on the ins and outs of starting an art collection.

After welcome drinks and an opportunity to mingle, Luci will kick off the evening at 7.30pm with an introduction to her personal art collection, before segueing into a broader discussion on buying art today.

During the course of the evening, Noel will reveal her top tips for valuing a piece of art, what the term 'original art' means to the Affordable Art Fair team, and discuss the ways in which prospective buyers can use the fair to hone their artistic taste. The evening will round off with a quick overview of the 2018 Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring Collection and Hampstead highlights, as well as a Q&A. The event will finish at 8.30pm.

Buying, owning and collecting art can be surprisingly affordable and enjoyable: Luci Noel is here to show you how.

This event is open to everyone. Book your tickets now to avoid disappointment!
