The good life, Daniël Nelson, The Netherlands

GRAND TITLE WINNER 2017, YOUNG WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

Photographer Daniël met Caco in the forest of Odzala National Park in the Republic of Congo. Caco can be seen feasting on a fleshy African breadfruit. He is about nine years old and preparing to leave his family. He is putting on muscle, becoming a little too bold and will soon become a solitary silverback.

Canon 6D Sigma 50 - 500mm f4.5 - 6.3 lens at 500mm; 1/30 sec at f6.3; ISO 800.

Nelson is also the 2017 winner of the 15-17 years old category.
